celebrating 20 years recovery from drug addiction today

Oct 20, 2016
I am celebrating 20 years recovery from drug addiction today
I could not have done it without my mom never giving up on me,
to her I am forever grateful.
A big thank you to my Addictions Doctor Douglas Coleman
for steering me in the right direction and giving me straight.
I could not have done it without the help of NA (Narcotics Anonymous)
12 step program of unparalleled success,
that works if you work it, its simple & its free.
I could not have done it without some real and true friends,
my best friend Karyn Creighton McCallister who has been my friend since I was 8 yrs old
and has seen me through a lot of dark times.
Once I said to her over 20 yrs ago…
“If you are still my friend after all the things I’ve done and put you through,
& to my dear friend Paul Hammill who I have known for 22 yrs…
he knew me in addiction,
he knew me in my recovery,
he is my ROCK…
and without his help many a time,
through some tough times in the last 20 yrs of recovery,
he helped pull me through….
to him for that I’m forever grateful….
I am thankful for friends who stand by me through the ups and downs of life.
My truest friends are those who know everything about me,
but love me just the same.
My I always be a loyal friend.
I will strive to be true in word & faithful in deed.
My friends are precious treasures with a priceless valve.
Thank you.
Sincerely grateful…

“The world as we have created it
is a process of our thinking.
It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person,
or if we wait for some other time.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
We are the change that we seek.”

A total commitment is paramount
to reaching the ultimate in anything in life…
The price of success is hard work,
dedication to the job at hand,
and the determination that whether we win or lose,
we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.
Confidence doesn’t come out of nowhere.
It’s a result of something…
hours and days and weeks and years
of constant work and dedication.

& to Humraj & Impreet on their wedding day – wishing you all the happiness

“Champions do not become champions when they win the event,
but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it.
The victorious performance itself
is merely the demonstration of their championship character.”
“He who is best prepared can best serve his moment of inspiration.”
“Good luck is a residue of preparation.”

Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

“The moment you put a deadline on your dream,
it becomes a goal.”
“People with goals succeed because
they know where they’re going.”
“Without goals, and plans to reach them,
you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.”
“This one step
choosing a goal and sticking to it
changes everything.”

Give a man a bow and arrow and tell him to, “SHOOT!”
and his first response would be, “At what?”
When there is no target there is no purpose for shooting.
He could shoot the arrow anywhere
and wherever the arrow ended up would be where the arrow ended up.
Not much to it.

On the other hand,
if you gave the archer a target
and challenged him to hit the bulls-eye
everything changes.
You now gave him something to aim at,
something to challenge his skills against,
something to measure his progress with,
and something that gives all of his effort
All by adding in a simple target.

That’s what a goal does to a person’s life
It changes everything.
You were given a life and you’ve been told ever since to, “live it.‘
Well, in order to answer that question your first thought should be, “By doing what?”
And that is the key focusing question that sets the basis for this list!

Everybody in this world has a different set of circumstances,
different set of skills,
and a different set of opportunities
through which they can interact with the world
and find their unique sense of fulfillment.
You’re mission in life should be to figure out what your unique,
“sets” are and how you can take action to best capitalize on them
that gives all of your effort purpose and meaning.
Goals are the guiding light that get you there

“Focus is the soul of success.”
“Whenever you want to achieve something,
keep your eyes open,
concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want.
No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”
“Commitment is the foundation of focus.”

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve:
the fear of failure.”
“Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself.
Go forward and make your dreams come true.”
“Be careful what you water your dreams with.
Water them with worry and fear
and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream.
Water them with optimism and solutions
and you will cultivate success.
Always be on the lookout for ways
to turn a problem into an opportunity for success.
Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.”
